    Greedbay`s New Fees

I was going through the boards at greedbay this morning and one member has jotted down the difference in fees that greedbay are making from 24th Spetember......It is far simpler to understand like this ..I have only copied this so if may not be 100% accurate ...I am sure it is though. This is not the complete price change structure but shows the massive increases that will effect the small time seller

    So basically Final Value fees for BIN's under £30 go from 7.5% to 9.9%. £30 t0 £50 go from 4.5% to 9.9%.
    On auctions under £30 FVF 7.5% to 8.75%. £30 to &50.4.5% to 7.25%.
Strip out the PR, that is a gigantic increase in fees.Especially in the £30- £50.
Factor in PayPal (and what is going to happen to THEIR fees) and Ebay's SELLER fees are getting nearly the same as the Major London auction houses(15%).

    Re: Greedbay`s New Fees

    Simpler version.

    10% FVF
+ 60p insertion and PayPal fixed fees.
+ 3.3% PayPal fee on entire transaction.
+ 50p per day, minimum service fee for shops.

Doesn't include the cost of missing parcels or unsold items.

    It's a hefty chunk.

    TTG.

    Items available
PC CASE COOLING, PC LIGHTING, AIRFLOW CABLES, SILENT FANS, HEATSINKS, RAM COOLERS & MUCH MORE
CASE MODS, CABLES, COOLING FANS, HEATSINKS.

    Re: Greedbay`s New Fees

Actually, TTG, I think you may have over-estimated the insertion/Paypal fixed fees? If you have a shop, insertion fee will be 20p max - is the paypal fixed fee 40p a whack?

    Re: Greedbay`s New Fees

Prices quoted are starting prices. Not everyone has a shop, but yes, if you do the 60p insertion and PayPal fixed fee drops to 40p.

    For what it's worth.

    Still a hefty chunk.

    TTG.

    Re: Greedbay`s New Fees

The way I see it, apart from screwing the small sellers like me, they are going to give back shop listings full visibility on the searches, at three times the price though, and why?  Because eflop express didn’t quite go to plan for the MONEY MONSTER.

Not being satisfied with that, they are going to take more than twice the amount for the monthly basic shop subscription. It don’t stop there though, they thought they would increase the final value fees too.

So, unless you are selling a huge amount of items and fork out at least £50 every month for a shop, you will be out of pocket big time.

But we shouldn't moan...it's not like anything else has had a price rise Wink

    Re: Greedbay`s New Fees

Hi I have listed for many years and although I do sell buy it now items I find that the auctions always do better. Buyers like the thrill of bidding for something..so making the shop more visible whatever the cost to the seller ..is not going to produce more sales, just more revenue for Greedbay. Buyers in the main will always go for auctions. Greedbay have shot theirselves in the foot so to speak with this one. Some shop items or buy it now items will sell ...but the whole point of auction sites is exactly that ..it is an auction.. You can see that Greedbay plans for the future is just to have a site with the main items being on Buy it now ..Does that make sense!!!!!!!and does anyone agree ...lyn

    Re: Greedbay`s New Fees

I have just taken a look at the new fees and although I just took a quick look I don't actually think this effects me much, because I sell "media products" and these are basically staying the same. Although I always thought there fee structure was more overly complicated than what it should be!

I do think Greedbay is exactly that, and I think its up to other places such as tazbar to put themselves out there and get recognised to pick up the slack left by greedbay and it would be up to us to capitalise on that opportunity. If tazbar offered approximately the same service  (dvd listings database, shops etc) I would move full time to tazbar without a hesitation. I advertise tazbar on my invoices to 'spread the good word' and I hope it helps!

I can't be bothered with auctions, they take to long. I do all, but the odd item, on Buy It Now and because of what I sell people are only looking for it to be cheaper  and/or quicker than the alternatives and not have to wait for the auction to finish, pay for the item and then wait for it to be delivered. Buy It Now allows me to send the item same day (in most cases) and that gives the buyer the item with about 3/4 days (or sooner) and its working.

I may be the odd one out on this, but speed is the thing for my business and this provides more customer satisfaction than price has so far. Thankfully!

    Re: Greedbay`s New Fees

I had forgotten about this until it was just pointed out to me, but what certain company has just recently been fined £30 million for allowing fake goods to be sold on their website? And in a complete change of topic which website just hiked their fees?

    Re: Greedbay`s New Fees

In reply to that I would say one of the same........They have pushed it too far this time though..on a downward trend .. Hopefully they will be a thing of the past soon.. Maybe that is just wishful thinking though!!!!!!

    Re: Greedbay`s New Fees

Sorry - posted this on another thread - not realising this thread existed.......so copied and pasted across................

Have not listed here for awhile - main reason being it was becoming increasingly time consuming/complicated keeping up with listings - improving/ammending  listings and popping into the forum...........for little chats here and there....................  - decided to simplify web presence to just a few listings on other side and personal websites and have to say things have been going OK.

Its going to be interesting to see what happens when other sides new fee structure takes place....................first impression is that its going to wipe out any profit ....................the increases are really drastic............is all the effort is it really going to be worth it????????????????  Cant see any benefits to sellers at all..............why are they trying to break something thats not broken - sales have been good lately - why are they messing up?

Always liked Tazbar - lets hope mass exodus hits here ................

    Time will tell................

    Re: Greedbay`s New Fees

As usual I'm behind everyone else in things, just opened the e-mail about this from e-bay and well what can I say........ they obviously don't want the likes of me selling there, I only ever sold bits and pieces that i no longer wanted or needed never high value items, theres no way I can afford to list there at all. Admittedly I haven't in a while anyway but I have been having a clear out and thought about listing there again but not now, theres no point cos most of my stuff is about the 99p mark. I actually thought I was reading it all wrong so came on here and yep as usual great somebody has clarified it all and proved I wasn't reading it wrong after all. Could this be good for taz, fingers crossed, I really hope so

I have told them to come and give it a go here.

Also now e-mailing my buyers to tell them too.

Fees are Non-Profitable now.Ebay will loose out dramatically due to this.

If you read the whole boards..All you see now is..i,ve closed or i,m closing my shop due to fees!!

Its taken at least an hour to place 3 listings - does that mean that everyone else is listing here tonight as well???????????  The mass exodus from the other side................???????????? or is there a problem with the server??

    Re: Greedbay`s New Fees

i totally agree i am just setting my business up i have a shop on greeday but that is closing on the 31st august, due to the new fees, threy will cripple me totally, i have listed a few items on here, but today it as took me ages to list so i may end up leaving the rest till 2moz now, most of what i sell over there is buy it now as it is on here and on another site i am selling on at the mo, i even do most off  my auctions offline as i use my turbo lister so i can see what the auction looks like before i place it anywher.

if you do have a shop on greedbay then make surre you do it at  the end off august as you will get charged for spetember,  as i was informed or by your next billing date as long it is before the change in fees otherwise you will end up paying the new fees.
