Bid Retraction

Retracting a Bid:

When you place a bid or submit a "Buy Now" request, you have entered into a binding contract. You are advised to read the item description carefully and contact the seller with any questions via the "Ask Seller a Question" link on each listing page before you place a bid or use 'Buy now'.

We investigate all reports of bid retractions thoroughly as sellers and other members bidding on the same item are seriously inconvenienced by careless use of the bid retraction facility.

Conditions for Bid Retraction:

It is possible to retract your bid only if it was placed within 30 minutes of placing the original bid. Retractions are not allowed in the final 30 minutes of an auction.

• Bid Retraction from the Control Panel:

  Locate the relevant listing in the control panel 'Winning' or 'Not winning' sections.

  At the bottom of every listing page, you will find a bidding History Tab. To retract your bid within 30 minutes of placing it, you must :

  Sign in > Control Panel > Bidding > Select listing and click on the bid history button> Use the Bid retraction facility.

• Bidding wrong amount or bidding in error:

  To retract a bid go to the advert you bid on and open the bidding history at the bottom of page. If you are signed in and you have bid within the last 30 minutes (provided more than 30 minutes are left before the auction ends) you will be given the option to retract your bid for one of the following reasons in the drop down list:

  1. Bid in error
  2. Bid a wrong amount
  3. The advert has changed

     You can select the reason of your choice and submit your request.The bid will be retracted if it meets the above criteria.

• If the listing has changed:

  To retract a bid go to the advert you bid on and open the bidding history at the bottom of page.If you are signed in and you have bid within the last 30 minutes (provided more than 30 minutes are left before the auction ends) you will be given the option to retract you bid for one of the following reasons in the drop down list:

  1. Bid in error
  2. Bid a wrong amount
  3. The advert has changed

  You can select the reason of your choice and submit your request.The bid will be retracted if it meets the above criteria.

• If Bid Retraction Facility is unavailable:

  If you have not been able to retract the bid before the last 30 minutes of auction ending, or within 30 minutes of placing the original bid then, you must contact the seller direct to request bid removal. If the seller refuses to cancel the bid, you can request Tazbar Support to review the problem at support@tazbar.net. If the seller agrees they can cancel your bid. If the auction has ended both parties can mutually cancel a transaction via the Dispute Console.

• Other Reasons:

  If you want to retract a bid for a reason other than the options given, e.g. you have changed your mind or your circumstances have changed then you will have to explain the situation to the seller. It is at the seller's discertion whether they want to cancel your bid or not. If the seller chooses not to cancel your bid and you win the item, you are obliged to pay for it. If you dont honour the transaction, the seller can file an Unpaid Item Dispute against your account.

  NOTE: Please note that Tazbar monitors and records all cancelled bids in an effort to eliminate abuse of this facility.

• How to avoid Bid Retraction

  Buyers are strongly advised to carefully consider their decision before they bid due to the inconvenience caused to the seller and other bidders.

  In order to avoid a bid retraction Tazbar reminds its members to:

  • Ensure funds are available to complete the purchase.
  • Ensure the selling member accepts a payment type that matches the buyer's payment type.
  • Ensure the bid amount is correct.
  • Ensure all delivery, or collection options are fully understood. Postage or courier costs are allowed for, and maximum weights for courier delivery (one person) are not exceeded (Health and safety at work).

  If you follow these guidelines you should never need to retract a bid. However in the event of a mistake being made, Tazbar has a limited bid retraction facility. This facility is only applicable to live auctions and not after an auction has ended. For more information about bid retractions go to the bid retractions page.
